History of Smooth Sailing Certified Home Inspections
Smooth Sailing Certified Home Inspections began 10 years ago. After leaving the Chesapeake Fire Department, I decided to go back into construction which I had done prior to and during my time with the Fire Department. In 2002, after another rush to the emergency room when my scaffolding collapsed, (this time transported by Nightingale), my wife decided that I needed a new career. During my recuperation from a broken leg, wrist and foot, she did some research and decided that I should become a home inspector.
With my background in construction, having built 4 homes from the ground up myself, she felt this would be a good fit. I trained at the American Home Inspector Institute in Chantilly, Virginia. After training I studied to take the ASHI Boards and passed on the first attempt with one of the highest scores that the ASHI representative had seen. We then had to decide what to call our new company. With our love for sailing we decided to call it Smooth Sailing Certified Home Inspections. After coming up with the tag line, A Smooth Inspection Means A Smooth Sale, a company was born. After all the marketing, printing and networking our new company started us on our new journey. Now, 10 years later I can happily say MY WIFE WAS RIGHT!!!! I have thoroughly enjoyed educating my clients on the condition of the house they were about to purchase and make their new home.
